Compared to North America, fewer public studies have focused on the measurement of methane emissions from oil and gas systems in Europe. To close this gap, Carbon Limits published a report in mth/year that provides valuable insights on emission patterns in Europe, focusing particularly on mid-stream emissions. The report also sheds new light on a few critical issues related to methane emission mitigation.
We had the pleasure to collaborate with Carbon Limits and 2 other companies on this study and provide valuable input.
Your questions answered
The report provides thorough answers to below questions:
- What is the distribution of emission rates and how do emissions vary based on the type of components?
- When leaks are detected, maintenance repairs the leak. How effective are these repairs in reducing the emissions?
- How frequently are new leaks detected after repair and how often does repaired equipment leak again?
The outcome
Similarly to North American studies, the analysis demonstrates emission distribution by equipment type, the effectiveness of repairs, and the effectiveness of LDAR over time and confirms the need for regular and systematic LDAR programs.
Methane Accounting Program
We developed a full Methane Accounting program to help its oil & gas companies with the methane reduction challenge.
